Category: Large Family
Price Range: £19,945 to £26,920
Refinement, fine ride, good to drive, smooth auto.
Not cheap, fiddly dash, limited space in the rear.
Only the price holds Accord back from being the pick of the large family automatics.

Opt for the automatic and you will inevitably pay more in running costs but the diesel engine still makes a lot of sense if you are counting your pennies. According to official fuel consumption figures the Accord diesel will return 50.4mpg against the petrol which returns 44.1mpg.
Emissions also rise: the Accord diesel auto emits 170g/km of carbon dioxide, so it slips into the VED Band E. Company car users face a 25% Benefit-in-Kind tax bill.
To put that in context, a Ford Mondeo driver faces higher fuel bills with the 2.0 TDCi only averaging 39.8mpg and emitting a heftier 189g/km (28% BIK).
That said, the Accord still cannot match the BMW 3-Series. The 320d is significantly more powerful and quicker while averaging 52.3mpg and emitting just 144g/km of CO2 (19% BIK).
