Refinement, fine ride, good to drive, smooth auto.
Not cheap, fiddly dash, limited space in the rear.
Only the price holds Accord back from being the pick of the large family automatics.

Honda is fiercely proud of its reputation for quality engineering and cutting-edge technology, so a new automatic diesel version of the Accord should be something of a technological showcase, right?
Prepare to be disappointed.
Despite pioneering hybrids and manufacturing the world's first ever hydrogen fuel cell-powered car, Honda has decided to 'keep it real' with the Accord and as such is using an old-fashioned automatic with a torque converter and five forward ratios instead of the expected six.
This is bordering on the archaic for those who expect fancier automated manuals and dual-clutch gearboxes, but as we'll see the new five-speed auto from Honda is far from outdated.
In fact, we think it's approaching the class best - read on to find out why.
