Great drive, good quality, value for money, lots of luggage space.
Auto's low-speed clunkiness, poor fuel economy and emissions.
What the Estate lacks in cleverness it makes up for in space.

The first time we drove the excellent latest-generation Ford Mondeo we criticised its dramatic increase in size, but this time we'll hold fast.
As an estate the more generous proportions serve the Mondeo well - so well that it jumps straight to the top of class for its load-lugging abilities.
With the seats up there's 554-litres available and that swells to an unbeatable 1,745-litres of load space when the seats are folded: that's a useful 145-litres more than the new Volvo V70. Antique dealers please form an orderly queue.
Better still, the new Mondeo benefits from the same improvements in ride, refinement and quality that are in the 4- and 5-door hatch.
Engine choice for the Estate is as vast as the rest of the Mondeo range. The petrol 1.6-litre is available in either 109bhp or 123bhp. Next up is the 143bhp 2.0-litre, then the automatic-only 159bhp 2.3-litre and finally, the muscular 217bhp 2.5 five-cylinder.
Those opting for diesel have the choice of a 1.8 TDCi in either 99bhp or 123bhp and a 2.0-litre TDCI that produces 138bhp with the six-speed manual and 128bhp with the six-speed automatic.
