Ford Galaxy (2006-) Review

Category: Large MPV 4 out of 5

Summary of the Ford Galaxy (2006-)

Price Range: £22,995 to £28,845

Assets

Roomy, comfortable, easy to drive, unpretentious image, good value for money, cheap to run.

Drawbacks

A bit dull-looking, some doubts about quality, stingy basic equipment levels.

Verdict

The Galaxy's a people-carrier that lives up to its label, but there are more inspiring and stylish propositions out there - not least Ford's own closely-related S-MAX.

Ford Galaxy Review

Running Costs5 out of 5

The Galaxy is good value for money to buy in the first place and its popularity on the second-hand market means that it holds its value well for a mainstream Ford.

Insurance should be reasonable and, as a Ford, parts and maintenance should be about as cheap as it comes.

The 2.0-litre diesel returns a very respectable 43.5mpg; the 1.8 TDCi does 44.8mpg (in either 100bhp or 125bhp form) and the 2.0 petrol a slightly less impressive 34.4mpg.

Carbon dioxide emissions are correspondingly low for the class.
