Pleasant to drive, good cabin layout and ergonomics, wide range of engines and body styles, excellent common-rail turbodiesel, high levels of refinement and quality.
Non-common-rail diesel a bit loud, ride could be a smidgeon more compliant ... not much else.
Still one of the very best cars in the class.

The Focus scored four stars in Euro NCAP's independent crash tests, which is quite good for a car of its age. However, anti-lock brakes aren't standard across the range, while side airbags are only an option except on top-spec models, which isn't really good enough these days. Only three-stars then, but if you are in crash, a Focus isn't too bad a car to be in.
