Category: Small Family
Price Range: £16,700 to £22,845
Fuel economy, excellent handling, quality cabin.
Pricey, noisy engine, long gearing.
Worth paying the £250 extra over a TDCi Style? Maybe.

Officially the Ford Focus Econetic will deliver an average of 65.6mpg but 4Car fuel economy tests suggest that you be lucky to achieve that in real-world conditions. Expect to get around 55mpg.
According to the government approved tests the Econetic emits 115g/km of carbon dioxide, putting it in Band B for vehicle excise duty and the 13% company car tax band. Official stats will tell you that the Econetic beats its main rival, the Golf Bluemotion, on economy but in 4Car's own fuel test the VW beats the Ford.
You won't pay a king's ransom for insurance cover because it is in group seven and Ford servicing at every 12,500 miles is usually very reasonable.
