The Focus, thanks to its cosseting ride, remains one of the most comfortable small hatches to cover big miles in a day. The ride remains composed whatever the road surface, taking road surface imperfections in its stride.
Ergonomically, even after the 2008 revisions, some drivers may find the driver's seat a little too high, while passengers in the rear could feel a little cramped when compared to some of the competition.
The trim levels have been revised for the facelifted model of early 2008: the base Studio level has CD player, central locking, curtain bags; Style adds air con, trip computer and remote central locking; the best-selling Zetec models gain 16" alloys, sports suspension and a styling pack; the top-level Titanium models gain privacy glass, auto lamps and wipers, a more powerful Sony CD system and chilled glovebox. From March 2008, ECOnetic versions will also have their own trim level.
In addition to ESP stability control being standard across the range, Ford has equipped all models with the anti-misfuelling device fitted to the Mondeo to ensure that potentially costly petrol into diesel mistakes are a thing of the past.
