The C-MAX was the first car to arrive on the new set of Ford Focus underpinnings, good enough for the new Focus and Mazda 3. The diesel engines are new to Ford, but have been developed by diesel experts PSA Peugeot-Citroen, and the Focus range has generally enjoyed a good reputation for reliability. The C-MAX looks well put-together and the cabin is well-finished, with quality plastics and decent fabrics, though the doors rattle a bit when you slam them shut. The hinges, brackets and widgets for folding and tumbling the seats seem substantial.
