The diesel returns 62.8mpg and emits just 119g/km of carbon dioxide, putting it in tax Band B - as good as it gets for a vehicle like this, short of going all-electric.
The petrol does 40.4mpg and emits 165g/km, but we'd recommend shelling out the extra for the diesel, as it's the better drive anyway. Both models get into Insurance Group 2.

This collects data on driving style via a USB stick; download this to a computer and the software advises you on improvements to technique, such as optimum gear-change points and smoothness of acceleration and deceleration.
