Fiat Bravo 1.6 Multijet 120 (2008-) Review

Category: Small Family 3 out of 5

Summary of the Fiat Bravo 1.6 Multijet 120 (2008-)

Price Range: £13,255 to £17,650

Assets

Smooth, willing and flexible 1.6 diesel engines, good economy.

Drawbacks

Uninspiring handling, patchy interior, lack of steering feel, low-speed ride.

Verdict

This 1.6 diesel engine is one of the best options in the Bravo range - though the low-emissions 105bhp version is better still.

Fiat Bravo Review

Safety and Security5 out of 5

The Bravo has a two-stage driver's airbag, the inflation tailored to the impact's severity, plus up to six other airbags, including an optional driver's knee bag. It can also be fitted with active head restraints that move forward in a rear impact, so lessening whiplash injury.

All of the above has helped Fiat achieve an impressive five-star rating for adult occupant safety in the Euro NCAP crash tests, with three stars for child protection and two (out of four) for a pedestrian impact.

Of course, it's clearly better not to have the accident in the first place, and the usual ABS, EBD and ESP braking and stability aids help keep you in control. There's a hill-holder feature within the braking system, too, for making hill starts easier.

An alarm system is optional.
