Fiat Bravo (2007-) Review

Category: Small Family 3 out of 5

Summary of the Fiat Bravo (2007-)

Price Range: £10,995 to £16,405

Assets

Handsome-looking hatchback with good space, nicely finished interior and efficient new 1.4-litre turbocharged petrol engines. Promises to be good value.

Drawbacks

Lumpy ride on the biggest wheels, engines could be quieter at speed, no external boot release, optional sat nav has ultra-vague instructions.

Verdict

A vast improvement over the unloved Stilo but no more than an average car in its class.

Price range likely to be £10,000-£15,000. On sale in UK June 2007.

Fiat Bravo Review

Running Costs4 out of 5

No fuel economy figures have been issued for the T-Jet engines, but they are likely to be better than those for the naturally aspirated engines of, say, 1.8 or 2.0 litres of similar power and torque. If the figures aren't better, there would have been little point in creating the engines. The turbodiesels are typically frugal, and manage official CO2 emissions of 139g/km (120bhp) and 149g/km (150bhp).

Servicing is needed as infrequently as every 18,000 miles, depending on how the car is used, and Fiat says maintenance costs will be much lower than for Stilo.
