Ferrari 430 Review

Comfort and Equipment2.5 out of 5

So long as you set the dampers to 'soft' the Scuderia is surprisingly comfortable. It's no limousine but nor does it come with the supermarket-trolley ride quality you might expect. The suspension is reasonably supple and copes with even quite viciously rutted roads with great aplomb. However, this is a recreational car, and of all the current Ferraris it's the one least suited to everyday use.

The problem is not thin, scooped-out bucket seats that support your body surprisingly well, nor a lack of carrying capacity, because if you flip the front bonnet you'll find a surprisingly deep and wide boot. No, the issue is the noise, which is fairly raucous at idle and just goes on getting forever louder until you hit the 8,700rpm rev limiter. On the track or the right country road this sound is an inspiration, but on a long run it would likely prove wearing in the extreme.
