Performance from roaring V8. Handles pretty well too. Should be well equipped and good value
Doesn't feel as well built as a 911. Left-hand-drive only. Manual gearbox industrial, auto 'box poor. Interior quality not up to European standards.
A proper sports car with a lot of character. Practical enough for daily use.

That the Corvette is made in huge numbers ought to suggest that reliability isn't going to be a problem, but several of the test cars we've tried have suffered silly, niggling faults: an electric boot-lid that wouldn't close, problems with the optional adjustable dampers and faulty lumbar support. That said, GM's reliability has been improving fast in recent US consumer surveys.
Perceived quality is a bigger problem still. The cabin finish is to about the same standard as a French mid-size hatch, not a 911 or BMW 645. The instrument pack is nicely laid out and illuminated and most of the switchgear is fine, but the plastic mouldings are averagely finished, especially on the doors, where they have a cheap, shiny look and feel.
