Aston Martin DB7 (1994-2004) Review

Category: Exotic Sports 3 out of 5

Summary of the Aston Martin DB7 (1994-2004)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Looks, appealing cabin, Vantage's handling and engine, exclusivity.

Drawbacks

Manual transmission is clunky. Non-Vantage car's handling no match for rivals. Cramped for tall drivers.

Verdict

A lovely object, and a pretty fine car.

Review

On the road4.5 out of 5

Generally no problems, especially with the automatic version. But it's a long car, and you can't see the end of that (expensive) nose. The manual gearbox is tricky to use smoothly in the basic car, and the Vantage's six-speed is little better for user-friendliness. Great engine, and a very able sporting suspension make it a joy on fast roads. But measured by the high standards of rivals, the steering is much too light and slightly vague, which is frustrating. Vantage is better: more firmly damped suspension and far more accurate steering.

Thanks to the six's supercharger and V12's sheer size, both units have strong response at all times for easy, safe overtaking. Running out to high revs, the Vantage is a true supercar, snapping forward even at 150mph plus.
