Review

Used Value4 out of 5

It's a little too early to predict residual values for the Passat CC, but Volkswagen predicts its new 3-Series rival, will be worth far more than the repmobile on which it's based.

PR puff, or is there truth behind VW's claims?

Execs say it can only import a maximum of 5,800 cars a year. This means the Passat CC will remain exclusive, not only on the new market, but the used marketplace, too.

Add in those stylish looks and high specification and there's a strong case to support the brand's claims of the CC being worth 6 per cent more than the already credible 38-46 per cent the standard Passat will retain when it comes to resale after three years/36,000 miles.

To put this in perspective, the equivalent BMW retains between 44-49 per cent while the more affordable Alfa Romeo 159 retains just 37-46 per cent.
