Build not as good as rivals, entry-level petrol too slow
If you're a bit bored with Ford Focus default choice, check this out. Just don't expect it to be as good to drive.

One of the Caliber's key attractions, according to Dodge, is the value for money it offers. The company claims that, like for like, the Caliber will cost up to 30% less than some key rivals.
Less clear is how well the Caliber's residual values will hold up, although we'd be optimistic, as the ageing PT Cruiser does relatively well against its competition. Also, the Caliber will have rarity on its side, as it'll be sold in tiny numbers compared to the likes of Golf and Focus. As is usually the case in this class, the diesel will be the one to hold its value best.
The diesel's a frugal runner, too, with a combined fuel consumption of 46.3mpg. The 2.0-litre petrol manages a respectable 34.9mpg, thanks partly to the more efficient CVT transmission. The 1.8-litre petrol does well, too, at 38.7mpg overall. On the servicing front, Dodge has yet to decide the intervals, but we'd guess they'll be competitive.
