Roomy, good value, makes quite a statement.
Loses its composure at speed or on poor road surfaces. Horrible gearchange.
If you like the looks, this is a neat way to stand out without compromising on practicality.
Daihatsus are generally well built and reliable, and there's no reason to think the Materia is going to buck that trend. It doesn't rattle or creak, and everything does what it should.
That said, the plastics aren't the nicest you'll ever touch. The 'look at me' styling is fun, but it could be guilty of raising expectations too high, and the reality is that this is a modestly priced car built down to a price.
