Alfa Romeo Spider (1996-2003) Review

Category: Convertibles 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Alfa Romeo Spider (1996-2003)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Beautiful styling, sophisticated manners and tuneful engines.

Drawbacks

Looks and feels dated now. Suffers from scuttle shake on bumpy roads, small boot, chassis struggles to deliver V6 grunt.

Verdict

Bigger and less aggressive than some rival roadsters but still desirable.

Review

Used Value4 out of 5

The Spider may not be as fashionable as it was a few years ago, but it's still one of the most distinctive convertibles on sale, which helps maintain its used appeal despite the flood of cheap imports. The well-equipped Lusso loses more value, but is a much more appealing used prospect and will be easier to resell. Values remain strong, but not stupidly dear for second-hand buyers. Get a well-kept example now, and it shouldn't lose too much value. In a few more years, it'll be a classic.
