Good diesel, nicely styled, good interior quality, reliability.
Petrol engines struggle a little, rear pair of seats tiny, all seats short in the base.
Competitive compact MPV with decent blend of looks and practicality. Prices and reliability make it an attractive buy.

It's always going to be close to five stars where Toyota's concerned; the company's reliability record speaks for itself. The Corolla had fewest breakdowns and faults in 2003's Which? reliability survey and was sixth overall in the 2003 JD Power satisfaction survey. Toyota has also made the Verso cheap to repair and maintain.
In terms of perceived quality (what you see and feel), the Verso is pretty good too, for its class. The interior gets plenty of rubbery plastics and there's a mock-aluminium finish on the centre console. It still looks like plastic pretending to be aluminium, but that's no surprise. All switchgear operates with smoothness and precision and some thought has obviously gone into those rear seats and the way they split and fold. A bit more interior ambience would net it the full five stars.
