Excellent drive, good choice of engines
Little to distinguish between it and Altea, only good for four
The Toledo doesn't mark itself out from the excellent Altea MPV enough, which could confuse potential buyers.

All versions have electric windows and mirrors, remote central locking, eight-speaker CD player, alarm and air conditioning. Mid-level Stylance trim adds alloy wheels, fog lights, cruise control and a leather clad steering wheel and gear stick. Top-spec Sport gains bigger alloy wheels (17" instead of 16" on Stylance), sports suspension and sculpted sports seats. Sport models are fitted with a CD player that can also play MP3 files and has built-in Bluetooth technology. This enables a mobile phone to connect to the hi-fi, giving hands-free operation. Four buttons on the side of the steering wheel enable the making or receiving of calls, with voice-activated dialling a feature. Integrated sat-nav on a 6.5-inch colour screen is an option.
Three adults will fit on the rear seats of the Toledo, but they will be squashed with little elbow room. Think of it as a four-seater with space for an extra one if pushed. Head and legroom is generous; in fact, the cabin is identical to that of the smaller Altea MPV. Boot space is cavernous at 500-litres and is split into two levels; the bottom 100-litre compartment is covered and can be split into smaller areas to separate items in the boot. Folding the rear seats flat - the Toledo doesn't do any party tricks with its seats - increases load space to 1440 litres.
