Cadillac CTS (2005-2008) Review

Category: Compact Executive 3 out of 5

Summary of the Cadillac CTS (2005-2008)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

A unique proposition, distinctive from the usual (German) contenders, high-performance CTS-V model and its sharp handling

Drawbacks

Quality not quite what it should be, not much rear legroom, unforgiving ride, no diesel option

Verdict

Hugely amusing CTS-V is a credible sports saloon, and well worth a look; V6s are less convincing

Review

Safety and Security3.5 out of 5

No word on Euro NCAP crash testing yet, but the CTS has been developed to meet US standards and should put up a decent performance over here too. Six airbags, including full-length curtain 'bags, are standard, along with seatbelt pre-tensioners and the usual modern-day gizmos; traction control, StabilTrak stability control with panic brake assist and limited-slip differential and sophisticated ABS anti-lock brakes are standard-fit, though there aren't sophisticated crash-sensing systems such as Mercedes' Pre-Safe. An alarm and immobiliser are standard.
