A unique proposition, distinctive from the usual (German) contenders, high-performance CTS-V model and its sharp handling
Quality not quite what it should be, not much rear legroom, unforgiving ride, no diesel option
Hugely amusing CTS-V is a credible sports saloon, and well worth a look; V6s are less convincing

Good value as a second-hand purchase: the high depreciation means a lot of large new car for the money, and as more (not that there are that many around) come out of their initial lease deals, used CTS models will get cheaper yet. The CTS typically loses over half its value in two years or so, even with a low mileage; 3.6 models seem to be preferred over the 2.8, as they seem more in keeping with the character of the car. The CTS-V has a certain rarity value; it makes no rational - or financial - sense, but is strangely appealing.
