Striking looks; high equipment levels; decent sound system; a lot of car for the money.
Unforgiving suspension; cabin quality unconvincing.
A bit of an oddball, but might just make sense if you hang on for the diesel engine - or alternatively, the CTS-V.

Fuel consumption and emissions from the CTS are comparable to other similarly-powered petrol-engined saloons of this size: 25.7mpg from the 2.8 V6, and 25.4mpg from the 3.6 V6. carbon dioxide emissions are high though, at 263 and 264g/km. Both versions fall into tax band G - £400 a year - and are likely to be included in disincentives such as more expensive residents' parking permits.
Servicing and maintenance should be reasonably affordable, however. GM is setting up a handful of dedicated franchises and service outlets to deal with Cadillacs, most at specialist dealers also working with Corvettes and Hummers. Not quite Vauxhall costs, then, but probably not as dear as the German-brand garages.
