Cheap, and getting cheaper, HDI diesels, well-equipped.
Slightly unrefined chassis, getting dated now, C4 Picasso's not that much dearer.
It's comfortable, it's spacious, it's practical and it's cheap.
The Picasso has suffered problems with its multiplex wiring and other electronic/electrical systems, and early examples are now looking rather scruffy after a few years of family abuse. Some of the plastics seem on the fragile side, especially the accessories - fold down tables, pop-out shopping basket, cup holders and so on, although the Scotchguarded fabric used on the rear seats is an inspired touch. It has scored averagely well in reliability and customer satisfaction surveys; although there are some niggling issues, the Picasso seems to have no serious problems.
