Good-looking, well-equipped, improved handling, option of conventional steel-spring suspension, quiet and comfortable ride.
Technically complex, poor reliability record of last C5.
A much more appealing proposition than its predecessor.

Servicing requirements are low, with visits needed no more than annually or every 10,000 miles and, with an eye to the fleet market and insurance costs, Citroen has made the C5 cheap to repair after an accident.
The diesel engines - which are the ones Citroen boasts about - are economical, too: the 1.6 HDI returns an excellent 49.6mpg; the 2.0 HDI does 46.3mpg (39.2mpg with automatic gearbox), the 2.2 HDI 42.8mpg and the 2.7 V6 HDI 223g/km. Carbon dioxide emissions are 150g/km, 160g/km, 191g/km, 175g/km and a rather frightening 223g/km, respectively. The 1.8i petrol does 34.9mpg and 192g/km, the 2.0i 31.4mpg and 214g/km.
