Amazingly light and airy cabin, lots of space, easy third-row access in the seven-seater, well finished and equipped, quiet and comfortable.
Pretty hefty for a 'compact' MPV, vague steering.
It's the most radical and futuristic compact MPV of all, an ideal family transport module for our times, available as a five- and seven-seater.

Weight and frontal area do the C4 Picasso no favours, but its official combined-cycle fuel economy figures (the same for five- and seven-seaters) are reasonable: 35.3mpg for both the petrol manuals (the smaller 1.8 is slightly thirstier around town, confirming that it's underpowered), 47.9mpg for the 1.6 HDi and 46.3mpg for the 2.0 HDi. This last version's automated manual transmission improves economy and reduces emissions by around 5%, says Citroen. A 1.6 HDi gets its CO2 emissions down from 155g/km to 150, which reduces your road tax.
Service intervals are 12,500 miles for the 1.6 diesel and 20,000 for the petrols and the 2.0 diesel, and insurance groups are par for the course.
