Citroen C2 1.6 HDi VTS (2008-) Review

Category: City Cars 2.5 out of 5

Summary of the Citroen C2 1.6 HDi VTS (2008-)

Price Range: £9,845 to £14,145

Assets

Easy to drive, easy to own, good fuel consumption.

Drawbacks

Price, hard ride, limited load-space, C2 now feels dated.

Verdict

Sporty looks and excellent fuel economy are strong points, but it's not the best-value C2 in the range.

Running Costs3 out of 5

Day-to-day running costs should be low - 64.2mpg, £35-a-year Band B tax (18% BIK for company car tax-payers) and, potentially, exemption from the London congestion charge (if the proposed changes go through) or other such schemes.

The body modifications and all the colour-coded bits mean group 6E insurance, however (most other C2s are 1,2 or 3E) which is high for something with such limited performance. And all the fuel-saving will be cancelled out by the high initial purchase price and the predicted high depreciation.
