One of the first cars to make electricity a genuine alternative to the internal combustion engine.

There is scepticism in the car world about electric cars, not helped by the fact that the most commonplace model on the streets of UK cities is the G-Wiz - an awkward-looking, slow, impractical, expensive quadricycle.
Things are looking up for drivers who don't want to lose any pleasure in driving but are interested in electric, however. The Tesla Roadster points the way for high performance electric cars, but it's still something of an exclusive proposition, due to its £91,000 price tag.
There are more accessible EVs in the pipeline coming in the form of the Smart Fortwo ED and now this, the Citroen C1 Evie, an emissions-free version of the French carmaker's class-leading city car.
It's had its internal combustion engine removed and replaced with an electric powertrain. This has been done by The Electric Car Corporation (ECC), which takes a standard C1 from Citroen, whisks it off to its factory in Hertfordshire and, after just 24 man-hours of work, hands the electric-powered car to the customer. In exchange for £16,800.
So has ECC ruined the C1, or brought a new dimension to the highly rated city car? Read on to find out if we think Evie is going to create a buzz.
