Good to drive, refined engine, plenty of cabin space, slick paddleshift system.
Third row seats only for occasional use, thirsty.
C-Crosser is likeable and looks the part, but it's far from perfect.

It's marketed as a seven-seater but the Citroen C-Crosser should be regarded as a 5+2. The seats in the rear are little more than glorified deck chairs and are only really suitable for children. They can seat (short) adults, but only for short journeys.
Otherwise there's plenty of space for a family of five with generous headroom, elbow room, and a great big boot with one-touch flat-folding seats. All five rear seats can be folded down to provide a flat floor and a load space of up to 1,686 litres. The boot can hold 510 litres when the rear seats are in use. That compares well when considering the competition: the Freelander's loadbay will take 1,670 litres and 405 litres with the rear seats up.
The C-Crosser also features a useful split two-piece tailgate to make loading easier.
There's two trim levels to choose from, the VTR+ and Exclusiv. VTR+ has climate and cruise control as standard, as well as 16" alloys and a six-speaker sound system. Upgrade to the range-topping Exclusiv (+£2,700) and the C-Crosser gains Xenon lamps, rear parking sensors, 18" alloys and heated leather seats.
