Huge load space, more comfortable than you'd think, all-round practicality, quirkiness.
Looks like a van, unnecessary roof height, no auto models, not as much safety kit as more car-like MPVs.
An excellent practical purchase if you can live with the looks.

MPVs and people-carriers aren't the most stylish or most dynamic family vehicles on the market - you buy one because you need the space and versatility, not because you've desired one all your life. So if you're going to buy one, you might as well buy one of the most practical and best value MPVs around. On those counts, the Citroen Berlingo Multispace is a class leader; it's not pretty, and its relationship to the Berlingo van is less than subtle, but it does a great job at carting kids around, doubling up as a light commercial vehicle, carrying bicycles, sports gear or dogs, and generally working for its living.
Facelifted for 2003, the Berlingo Multispace is now better-equipped, with a higher quality interior and more features, and fronted by a C3-alike large grille, huge clear-lensed headlamps and a deep wraparound bumper. More options are on offer, as Citroen found that even budget MPV buyers want some creature comforts and are prepared to pay extra for them. Not that this car is exorbitantly-priced: competitive in terms of list price, it's even better value given Citroen's ever-lasting special offers and buyer incentives.
