Huge load space, all-round ability
Looks a bit too much like a van
An excellent practical purchase if you can live with the looks

The high driving position provides excellent all-round vision, although the seats are a bit upright; the Berlingo is light and easy to manoeuvre, and simple to park. The 1.8i is the most fun, with its lively engine; this type of vehicle is never going to behave like a sports car, but the Berlingo is agile and even quite nippy with its responsive steering. Roadholding is good, though you can't rush something as high as this too much into corners.
The 1.8i engine is lively and willing - it's the best choice; the 1.4i is adequate. However, the 1.9D diesel isn't one of Citroen's new HDi direct-injection diesels, so it's a bit crude and noisy, reminding you of the Berlingo's van roots.
