Unique image, excellent value for money, more character than rivals, good Mercedes diesel V6.
HEMI thirst, quality not on par with rivals, image may put some off.
The 300C is an executive car like no other and will divide opinion. We love it - others will hate it.

The 300C will seat four in comfort. The centre back-seat passenger has the transmission tunnel to contend with, so has limited leg room, but the other two in the back have loads of legroom to stretch out in - more than a BMW 7-Series or Jag XJ. Up front, electrically adjusted and heated seats keep driver and passenger in comfort, with dual-zone aircon also featuring. The Touring estate's not a huge load-lugger like the Mercedes E-Class, as its rear tailgate is rakishly sloped, but it does have a usefully-sized luggage bay.
Standard equipment also includes leather-trimmed steering wheel, cruise control, electric windows, Xenon headlights and automatic wipers. A powerful Boston Acoustics CD sound system with six speakers should keep the music crowd happy - although many 300Cs in America have had their standard stereo system binned in favour of more powerful systems, complete with sub-woofers and DVD players. Metallic paint is also standard in a variety of shades, but the only colour that you should consider is black. 18-inch alloys are also fitted as standard, but it's likely that many owners will upgrade to aftermarket wheels in excess of twenty-inches in diameter, known as dubs.
Optional equipment includes a six-CD autochanger, sat-nav, electronic sunroof - all of which are standard with the 5.7-litre HEMI.
