Chrysler 300C (2008-) Review

Category: Executive 4 out of 5

Summary of the Chrysler 300C (2008-)

Price Range: £27,600 to £32,500

Assets

Unique image, spectacular looks, lots of character, good Mercedes diesel engine.

Drawbacks

Thirsty HEMI petrol engine, rather brash, not actually that roomy for such a huge vehicle.

Verdict

An executive car like no other - you'll either love it or hate it. We love it.

Chrysler 300C Review

The diesel is going to account for the vast majority of sales, given its 34.9mpg fuel economy. Carbon dioxide emissions of 215g/km just about keep it out of tax band G and liability for the £25-a-day London congestion charge.

It's the sensible option... the SRT-8 gives out a horrendous global-warming 330g/km and returns a miserable 20.2mpg (if you're lucky), and is thus clobbered for the whole lot. Don't do it.

Chrysler servicing and maintenance is generally cheaper than work at the German-car dealerships, and insurance isn't too bad: group 16E for standard diesels, 17A for SRT Design diesels though 20A for the SRT-8 itself.
