Price Range: £17,815 to £25,455
Good value for money, large and reasonably roomy, well-equipped; doesn't pretend to be a proper off-roader.
Bouncy, wallowy ride; less-than-sharp handling; gutless petrol engine.
Cheap and cheerful, but has no unique selling point, nor any reason to choose it over its similarly cut-price Korean rivals. Feels dated already.

A meritable, but not outstanding, overall four-star result in the Euro NCAP crash tests includes three stars (out for four) for child protection and just two for pedestrian protection. The diesel's by far the preferable model anyway, but if you really are considering the 2.4 petrol, bear in mind that it comes minus ESP stability control, a vital safety aid in a high-riding SUV with a high centre of gravity.
Standard equipment in the diesels also includes the hill descent control system, an additional stability control system called Active Rollover Protection which brakes the front outside wheel under hard cornering, plus front, side and curtain airbags. The two outermost seats in the middle bench have Isofix child seat mounting points, and all seats have proper three-point seatbelts.
Good marks for the Thatcham Category One alarm, and remote central locking with a one-piece key rather than a separate fob.
