Admirable road-holding abilities, high-driving position, sporty styling.
Poor rearward visibility, cramped in the back, expensive to run, only four seats.
The X6 looks like a compromise - and it is. Despite delivering in terms of driveability and desirability, it's not a hugely practical car.

The BMW X5 has been the ultimate Chelsea tractor. Style, usability and that high driving position gave it a lot of 'mews-cred' and, as such, resale values for this model have remained stable. Over the course of a three-year, 30,000-mile ownership, the X5 owner will get 54-59% of its original value back when they sell it on.
Expect similar returns for X6. VED road tax band hikes could affect the X6's ability to keep its value, but not by much, since people who own this type of vehicle are generally sufficiently well off to care little for relatively small impacts on their motoring bill. Those who live in congestion charging zones, however, must expect considerably less for their X6 when they part company with it.
