BMW wanted to make a bold new statement, and has succeeded. No other luxury car does so much so well. But if the styling's still a bit much, the new-generation model - with the wilder edges smoothed off - went on sale in April 2005.





Though it seems very well put-together structurally, there have been some problems with this Seven; early V8 engines were troublesome, and there have been issues with catalytic converters, ECUs and suchlike. It scored poorly in a number of reliability and customer satisfaction surveys.
