BMW 3-Series (1998-2001) Review

Category: Compact Executive 3.5 out of 5

Summary of the BMW 3-Series (1998-2001)

Price Range: £21,475 to £38,250

Assets

Superb refinement, superb quality, terrific detail design and general all-round ability.

Drawbacks

Not the entertaining driver's car that BMW fondly claims. Pricey too.

Verdict

The best in this class, if not as much fun to drive as the Alfa 156.

BMW 3-Series Touring Review

Comfort and Equipment3 out of 5

Absolutely superb. Fine seats, a supremely well controlled ride, excellent noise suppression and cultured engines make for wonderfully relaxed motoring, particularly over long distances. Room for four is good, especially in front, but a fifth occupant will not be sitting comfortably. The boot is fair, but suffers with a small aperture, while odments stowage provision inside is excellent. It pumps out a good sound, but the standard stereo does without RDS, and a compact disc player is extra too. Still, it's all easy to use.
