BMW M3 (2001-2006) Review

Category: Affordable Sports 4 out of 5

Summary of the BMW M3 (2001-2006)

Price Range: £50,935 to £50,935

Assets

Performance, handling, quality, styling, practicality, value retention

Drawbacks

Pricey, not quite as much fun as the original 1986 M3, slightly too vulgar for some. CSL very expensive; SMG transmission flawed; Convertible has less rear room and smaller boot

Verdict

One of the great performance cars, and so easy to live with

BMW 3 Series Coupe Review

Used Value3 out of 5

The M3 is not cheap to buy - for a 3-Series at least, if not a supercar - but it should prove easy to sell on. It has retained two-thirds of its original new price (which did, after all, include upgrades in almost every area, from brakes to bodywork to seats) after three years, a very strong residual value, and it should still continue to be desirable as it ages further.
