Brilliant power delivery from monster engine, beautifully appointed interior.
Still looks too ordinary, some ride comfort has been sacrificed.
Not quite as captivating as it seems on paper, but impressive and likeable nonetheless.

Inevitably, the stiffening of the Spur's suspension has brought a commensurate deterioration in ride quality. On smooth, open and even quite undulating roads, it retains an imperious control over its body movements: but once you slow down for a town, you can hear those big 20" wheels thumping into potholes and feel how unwilling those unyielding springs are to compress over ridges.
To see how it should be done properly, drive a standard Flying Spur - a car whose suspension has actually been softened a little compared to its predecessor - and all becomes clear. The steering weight is lighter, the ride substantially more compliant.
Both versions benefit from much work that has been done to reduce wind and road noise to the point where Bentley claims the Spur is the most refined car in its class. After a day at the wheel, we have no trouble believing it.
