Hugely powerful V10 engine, fantastic acceleration, loads of space.

A very good car, but not the superb machine we were hoping for.
The RS6 has taken the hydraulically controlled Dynamic Ride Control system from the RS4, where it was firm but easy to live with, and added the twist of controllability via the MMI.
The driver has a choice of three settings, Comfort, Dynamic and Sport: the Sport setting is a little too firm and soon becomes wearing; Comfort offers a bit too much floatiness; but Dynamic offers the best compromise, although some passengers may find it a little too stiff for their tastes.
That aside, the interior of the car is superbly spec'ed, as you'd expect from a flagship Audi. Sports seats come fitted as standard, which can be electrically set to suit the occupant. The front and two outside rear seats are heated and all come upholstered in a combination of leather and Alcantara or full Nappa leather.
Elsewhere in the cockpit, there's the usual high standard of equipment in the RS6: white-on-black dials, red LED readings and quality switchgear all angled and within reach of the driver; an auto-dimming rear view mirror; front and rear parking sensors; electro-mechanical parking brake; automatic lights and wipers; tyre pressure monitoring system; Audi's MMI operating system, which is intuitive and easy to use; six-disc CD changer; DAB digital radio; Bluetooth; and a Bose surround sound system.
Other equipment includes adaptive front lights; lane assist, which vibrates the steering wheel if the driver ventures across road markings without indicating; adaptive cruise control; automatic tailgate; and twin oval exhausts.
