The Audi Q5 is based largely on the new A4/A5/Volkswagen Passat platform, so much of its components are already tried and tested.
This is the first application of the S-tronic gearbox with a longitudinally-mounted engine, but this transmission (aka Volkswagen's DSG) is already proving tough. The TFSI engines are doing well, Audi knows how to make a durable diesel (plenty of practice at Le Mans) and it all looks impeccably screwed together.
