Audi Allroad (2001-2006) Review

Category: Executive 4 out of 5

Summary of the Audi Allroad (2001-2006)

Price Range: No data available

Assets

Power and smoothness of the 2.7-litre petrol engine, Tiptronic gearbox, rugged styling, combination of off-road prowess and on-road ability, good value compared with standard A6 Avant

Drawbacks

Diesel's lack of low-speed torque, exposed sills transfer dirt onto exiting legs, beautifully-finished interior inappropriate for regular dirt-road use, easily scuffed bumpers and alloys

Verdict

It looks great and delivers the goods - what more could you want? Well, it's a bit too smart to be a proper working vehicle

Audi Allroad Review

Comfort and Equipment3 out of 5

The well-fitted cabin is filled with tactile surfaces, lovely quality leather (full leather seat upholstery optional on V6 models) and very nicely moulded plastics - it's everything you'd expect from an upmarket brand. It's all very Germanic and monochrome, but that's just the way Audi buyers like it. The seats are supportive for international motorway marathons, all models have full climate control and all the latest gadgetry, while the ride is extremely smooth, except when the suspension is at its highest ride height. It rides better and is more refined than the standard steel-sprung A6. It's no more roomy than the standard A6 - but that is pretty large. The boot is cavernous, the rear seats give plenty of legroom to lounge around, and the high, square roof means lots of headroom. Audi usually fits high-quality sound systems, and that in the Allroad is no exception. The V6 models come with a single-slot CD player (multichanger optional), and an advanced satellite navigation system is also on offer.
