Category: Large Executive
Price Range: £49,975 to £80,260
Refined engines, very good automatic gearbox, quality interior.
Some tyre hum, a little conservative on the inside.
Doesn't come across as all that sporting, but it is competent and accomplished.

When spending fifty grand-plus on a motor car, you should expect only the best in reliability and quality. And we're fairly sure you'll get it.
The feel of the cabin of the A8 is largely excellent, with good quality materials throughout, even down to faux-suede on the door pillars and parts of the roof lining. The switchgear feels better than that of a BMW 7-Series, which has some relatively cheap-feeling silvery-plastic switches (the handbrake, for example), and the A8 is at least on a par with an S-Class.
The slight wind noise from the A-pillar we experienced on our first drive seems to now have been ironed out on the right-hand-drive production cars, and when it comes to fit and finish, we now can't fault it. Not an uneven panel gap or ropey paint finish in sight.
