Refined engines, very good automatic gearbox, quality interior.
Some tyre hum, a little conservative on the inside.
Doesn't come across as all that sporting, but it is competent and accomplished.
The mammoth depreciation means that second-hand A8s are relatively cheap, especially at three or four years old, and if they've come off a luxury-hire fleet. Buying a used example has always been the best way into an A8. Just bear in mind that it will still incur the other running costs of a £50K motor.
