Audi A8 Review

Overview3.5 out of 5

Audi has long struggled to break Mercedes' and BMW's stranglehold on the upmarket executive car class, and the A8 was the result of a massive engineering effort. The clean-sheet approach allowed Audi to make a technological step forward by building the car entirely of aluminium. Under the sleek (if typically Audi) aluminium skin is a chassis made up of aluminium beams. The result is a light, stiff and immensely strong car that comes with fine range of six- and eight-cylinder engines as well as Audi's superb quattro four-wheel drive system on all models. A clever car for people who admire clever engineering. Replaced by all-new model in 2003.
