Excellent choice of engines, quality interior, quiet, great for cruising.
Shaky ride, not very exciting to drive, dull steering.
A perfectly competent, classy open-top but it's not going to take your breath away.

On the motorway the A5 Cab is completely at home. You'll feel totally relaxed, with all engines wonderfully silent and unflustered. With the sound-deadening roof up you feel like you're in a library. Even with the roof down, there's little buffeting with the side windows and the wind deflector up.
It goes a bit wrong though when you are pottering around the city on less-than-smooth road surfaces. The car gets very shaky over uneven roads, and if you hit minor potholes you can feel the whole car flex underneath you.
It's bearable, though. Seating is firm and cosseting, and there's ample bootspace (320 litres, which beats the Mercedes-Benz CLK and the BMW 3-Series Convertible).
There's lots of legroom and headroom for the rear-seat passenger too - we were able to fit a 6ft 2in passenger in the back and he could sit up straight without his head touching the roof. The roof retracts in just 15 seconds and it can be operated at speeds of up to 30mph.
The A5 Cabriolet is sensibly kitted out, even on the entry-level models. As standard there's 17" alloys, front and rear foglights, six-speaker audio system with CD and aux-in socket, automatic seat-belt feeder (an automatic arm that pops out on start-up to stop you having to reach too far back for the belt), climate control, electric front windows, rake-and-reach adjustable steering and chrome detailing.
SE models add an uprated 10-speaker stereo, leather seats, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, automatic windscreen wipers, three-zone climate control and wind deflector. Upgrade to the S line trim and you get multi-function steering wheel and paddle shift for automatic models, sports seats, body kit, xenon headlights with LED on the front and rear.
If you are feeling particularly saucy you can opt for adaptive cruise control, blind spot warning, lane departure warning, sat nav and infortainment system or an uprated Bang and Olufsen stereo.
