Sculptural styling, ride comfort, driver-pleasing handling, fabulous quality of finish, LCD graphics, Multitronic CVT.
Engine refinement a little disappointing, ride quality of sportier variants is firm, BMW 3 Series handles better...
This A4 mounted a serious challenge to the BMW 3 Series. A complete car.

The firm, generous, supportive seats are exceedingly comfortable, the driving position really is spot on (thanks to multi-faceted adjustment) and the exceptionally good design and quality of the interior makes it a fine place to spend time.
It's not the roomiest in this class, but it is more spacious than the 3-Series. There's bags of room for the driver, the boot is decently shaped and sized, and it's only in the rear where things are tighter than the best, particularly in terms of legroom. Most versions are well-equipped, with a decent-quality standard audio system (a thumping Bose sound system was an expensive, but popular, option new).
