This sixth-generation Audi A4 was the first to really challenge the BMW 3-Series, which has dominated this sector for years and long been the automatic-choice entry-level executive car. It was the first A4 to offer a decent driver-focused feel, as well as its plain but modern, stylish looks. It's still looking very smart, despite the launch of thoroughly facelifted versions in 2005 and an all-new range in late 2006.
The A4 is available as a saloon or Avant (estate), with a huge choice of petrol and diesel engines.
