Category: Small Family
Price Range: £15,265 to £26,525
Classy looks, attractive cabin, safe handling, quality, 2.0-litre engines
Pricey, appalling rearward visibility, notchy gearchange, smallish boot, less sporting than Audi claims
Desirable but expensive. Good road manners and roomier cabin justify its high price

A rather disappointing four-star result for overall adult occupant protection in the Euro NCAP crash tests: rivals such as the Volvo C30 and BMW 1-Series have scored the full five. Just three stars for child protection and only one for pedestrian protection, too.
Standard equipment is comprehensive, however. You get front, side and curtain airbags, seatbelt pre-tensioners, three rear three-point seatbelts, front and rear-seat Isofix child seat mounting points, stability control, plus a Thatcham Category 1 alarm and immobiliser.
