Audi A3 (2003-) Review

Category: Small Family 3 out of 5

Summary of the Audi A3 (2003-)

Price Range: £14,995 to £26,445

Assets

Classy looks, attractive cabin, safe handling, quality, 2.0-litre engines

Drawbacks

Pricey, appalling rearward visibility, notchy gearchange, smallish boot, less sporting than Audi claims

Verdict

Desirable but expensive. Good road manners and roomier cabin justify its high price

Audi A3 Review

Reliability and Quality3 out of 5

The A3 has generally been well built, though owners have reported problems with this 2003- series: issues include wiper failures, clutch faults, ignition coil failure (2.0-litre FSI engine), breaking timing belts (2.0 TDI), radiator leaks and head gasket failure and easily-damaged metallic paint. Not as good as it could - or should - have been.
